BACKGROUND
Caleris, currently a BPO provider of 24 hour technical support, ISP tech support and other outsourced services,was founded by two native Iowan entrepreneurs, Rick Grewell and Sheldon Ohringer. Grewell and Ohringer, who with a combined 40+ years Information Technology management experience, realized a huge opportunity when they acquired an established 10-year-old technical support service provider.
The two sought to continue the company's reputation as a preferred customer outsourced technical support provider and greatly expand the business, adding additional services, including call center services, website content moderation and ISP tech support just to name a few, as well as creating new jobs. Formerly known as ECI, Caleris' technical support operations were established in Iowa in 1993 to take advantage of the central time zone, the Midwestern work ethic, and favorable economy. Today, Caleris continues to thrive because of these advantages, providing all outsourced technical & ISP support, as well as 24 hour call center services from Iowa.
Initially, the company's technical support operations served the optical storage industry. The company made a natural progression into handling the returned merchandise (RMAs) that they supported. With the first inbound call center in Des Moines, the company opened a second inbound call center in Manning, Iowa in 1997. In 2000, a new facility was built in Manning with a massive warehouse in which the company could expand its RMA and product fulfillment operations, to compliment our 24 hour inbound call center facilities.
Caleris continued to expand its service offerings, first to outsource tech support for ISP helpdesk services, then customer care & most currently back-office processing services, including web application analysis. In early 2005, the Jefferson, Iowa facility was opened to handle our increasing number of outsourced 24 hour technical helpdesk and customer service clients, as well as web content processing clients.
In early 2007, a third outsourcing technical support center was necessary to fulfill our rapidly growing client base since becoming a BPO provider. The city of Newton was chosen for the site because of the availability of quality workers, perfect for our outsourcing services. The Newton center is now Caleris’ largest BPO facility, providing a majority of our clients with outsourced technical services. The company is quickly filling this location with agents providing technical and customer services including video analysis, technical & ISP support and 24 hour customer care.
Since Caleris accepted the ownership of the outsourcing technical support operations at the beginning of 2004, the company's monthly revenue and number of BPO clients has nearly tripled. The number of employees has more than tripled, creating quality outsource technical and 24 hour customer service job opportunities for numerous Iowans. Our outsourced job opportunities include 24 hour customer support positions, ISP tech support outsourced positions, website content moderators, as well as other BPO technical support jobs.
